Welcome to Amaphisi Safaris

At Amaphisi Hunting Safaris, we offer a wide range of hunting options, from plains game hunting for the beginner to the more challenging hunts for the discerning and more experienced African hunter.

Hunting with Amaphisi Safaris

Amaphisi Hunting Safaris is based in KwaZulu-Natal, where we have hunting rights through-out the province. Given how the terrain varies in KZN, we are able to offer the first time African hunter a good quality, yet challenging, plains game hunt, as well as offer the most experienced hunter, top quality hunts for the dangerous game, on licence in KZN, including buffalo, hippo, white rhino – both green hunts and trophy hunts, and crocodile as well as the tiny ten, of which we have 7 native to the province. Leopard and lion are further discussed under the dangerous game section, as we may not legally hunt them as trophies in this province.

Broadly speaking we can divide KwaZulu-Natal up in two large hunting areas, namely Northern KZN, better known as Zululand, and the Natal Midlands, including the greater Drakensberg area, and upper Tugela valley. Amaphisi Safaris has a base camp in each of these two areas, and numerous properties or concessions where we hold hunting rights in both areas. We utilize the camp or area most suited to the hunter’s list of priorities. Often this means hunting on large properties for the entire duration, and on times we will split a hunt to get the hunter all the species he desires.

Zululand and it’s hunting starts from the town of Hluhluwe, Mkuze, Pongola, the region along the Mkuze River, Magudu, Louwsburg, Vryheid, Utrecht. Melmoth and in certain cases Nkwaleni, Heatonville and Empangeni.

The Midlands and greater Drakensberg and Tugela valley hunting area starts around tows like Lion’s River, Dargle, Greytown, Nottingham Road, Lotheni and Rosetta, Underberg, Kokstad, Ixopo and Winterton, and the further north towards Ladysmith, Besters, New Castle Normandien.

From here on we hunt the neighbouring Free State province to the west, Mpumalanga, North West and Limpopo to the north, and the picturesque Eastern Cape to the South.
